Uzumaki

Uzumaki is one of my favorite manga written by Junji Ito, the author of much famous manga. He is known for his horror manga. This year the anime adaptation of my favorite manga Uzumaki is coming, which I am eagerly waiting for. This manga was written in 1998, even after reading this manga it feels like it is written today. This manga was published weekly from 1998 to 1999 and was serialized in its monthly pulp translation in North America from 2001 to 2002 in Serris English language.

The series tells the story of a citizen of Kurouzu-Cho, a fictional town that suffers from a supernatural curse associated with the supernatural. The story of Uzumaki begins when "Ito" affects the people living in houses with a very tall terrace, The twisting ladder felt like a spiral to them and this thing makes this manga very spectacular and very attractive, which even today many people find it a mystery.

When I read this manga, I was also wondering what would be the story behind this spiral. I was very surprised to know that this manga, which is completely decorated with spirals, has a spiral on every page, which is Uzumaki. He has come only after seeing a curved staircase and a mosquito coil........................

The manga was later released by WonderSwan, two video games from the manga and the Japanese live-action film called Higunchinsky was named in 2009 by the Young Adult Library Services Association's "Top Ten Graphic Novels for Teens" list.

Plot:

Uzumaki high school teens Kirie Goshima ; her boyfriend, Shuichi Saito ; Kurouzu-ch ( Black Vortex Town), a citizen of the Little Shire who is cursed by supernatural phenomena involving the spiral.

As the story progresses, they see whom the Spiral Curse is affecting the people around them, causing people to become obsessed and paranoid towards Spiral. Shuichi becomes reclusive after the death of her parents. After all, this was caused by the spiral, although now Shuichi acquires the ability to find out that when the Spiral Curse is happening and it is discarded till the coming Spiral Curse is seen.

After a few days, Kirie also gets affected by the curse. It is revealed when her hair curls in a spiral shape, and they shed her energy to hypnotize people, and as she tries to cut her hair, her hair strangles her. Shuichi tries to cut her hair. It is said that this curse disturbs the city till it destroys most of the things, except some of the buildings, all the buildings are made raw.

Shuichi has hurled down a pit leading deep beneath the earth by a mutated citizen at the center, with Kirie herself descending via a colossal spiral staircase to find him. She falls but is saved by countless bodies making up the ground of a vast, ancient city consisting entirely of spiral patterns in various arrangements. As Kirie looks for Shuichi, she finds her parents twisted and petrified, resembling stone statues, along with many other citizens of Kurouzu-Cho who have met the same fate. Then, she hears Shuichi call for her and goes to him. Both are overwhelmed by the ancient spirals surrounding them and Shuichi points out how it seems as though the spiral ruins have a will of their own. Noticing that the petrified citizens of Kurouzu-who are all facing the spiral city, Shuichi theorizes that this is the source of the curse; the city expands on its own periodically and has cursed the land above out of jealousy from having no one to view it.

Shuichi urges Kirie to leave without him as he can no longer walk and that the curse should be over soon, but she replies that she does not have the strength and wishes to stay with him. The two embrace with their bodies twisting and intertwining together, signifying their acceptance into the unending curse. At the same time, a stone tower in the shape of a drill bit rises out of the city, and breaches the surface, forming the centerpiece of the abandoned town. As Shuichi and Kirie lie together, Kirie notes that the curse ended at the same time it began, for just as time speeds up away from the center, it freezes at the center. The spiral's curse is eternal, and all the events will repeat when a new Kurouzu-Cho is built where the previous one lay.

Development:
Uzumaki is written and illustrated by Junji Ito Junji Ito wanted to write a story about strange events, changes, affecting people living in ancient traditional Japanese tall terraced houses. When he set out to make tall buildings, he was impressed by a mosquito coil.

It is very strange to hear that to be affected by a mosquito coil, I was as surprised as you are now, but maybe these little things make them very special and different from us, and seeing the mosquito coil, Junji Ito ji made a spiral. The buildings and that art decorated their manga completely with that. Which makes that manga mysterious and fascinating to know more about

ito says that in order to know more about these spirals, he took inspiration from many other things like this to improve his manga, how to get water from bathtub, whatever spiral shape comes out of it. He even raised a snail for this manga. They say that when they look back on their series in 2006, they can't decide what a spiral is. Then he says that the spiral represents the infinite.
